Eyre Futures is a preferred provider with the Department for Education and Child Development (DECD) to provide Community Mentoring in Schools. Mentoring provides a structured & trusting relationship that brings young people together with caring individuals who offer guidance, support & encouragement.
The Local School Community Mentoring program is an initiative to assist young Students in:
- Engaging with education & training
- Career guidance
- Transition from primary to secondary school & into the workplace or further study
- Support with social/ living skills
We know that young people who leave school early limit their chances of reaching their full potential.
We also know that a significant adult who is neither a parent nor teacher can have a great impact on a young person. Mentors do help young people to reach their full potential.
Community Mentoring occurs during school hours at a mutually convenient time on a one-to-one basis for one hour per week. Mentoring is a rewarding experience for both Student and Mentor.
Mentoring is a gift the young person will spend the rest of their life unwrapping – Andrew Fuller.
